FAQ about my portrait sessions

I do a wide range of portrait sessions such as family, children, individual, engagement, maternity and newborn. I have also taken photos to accompany short stories/books. I would love to hear your ideas!

I hold all of my sessions on location and **outdoors in the Greater Johnstown and surrounding Areas. Whether it is your favorite spot, your home or even where you met, I will personalize the perfect portrait session for you. It can be classic and posed, lifestyle (living in the moment and doing what you love!), or with an artistic flare! It is all up to you!

**I am happy to announce the opening of my brand new portrait studio, in time for holiday 2016!! Perfect for those family holiday portraits where you can't predict the weather! The studio also allows for professional head shots, senior yearbook and newborns.  Call or email me and we can start planning the most unforgettable portrait session!

What is included with my session?

  • Consultation- Where I will go over everything from the who, when, where & how long.
  • The Session – The actual photography session which lasts 1-3 hours, depending on the type of session requested.
  • My time in professionally editing all the images.
  • A private or public photo gallery on my website for easy viewing and ordering. There is always the option for a meeting to place your order in person at my office/studio.

What is the session fee?

My session fees range from $85- $325 depending on the number of people, amount of images wanted, & type of session. They include all the services listed above.  There is a travel fee of $0.50 per mile of any location more than 25 miles from my Windber studio.

What should I (We) wear?

Where what makes you comfortable and depicts who you are. These photos are all about you and should reflect that. With that said it is important to color coordinate for a cohesive portrait.

Keep in mind the season of the year when choosing colors.

Spring & summer- This is good for soft airy, light colors like light blues, whites, khaki, yellow and light hues.

Fall- We amp it up a bit with oranges, browns, earth tones, purples, light and dark grey, black, navy blue and cream.

Winter- In this season we want to pop against the white snow with navy blues & denim, black, grays, jewel tones, reds in cranberry and bright, and cream.

You can have a mix of solids, and graphics in plaids and stripes. A good mix is one graphic to two solid ratio. Don’t forget about layering for added depth and color pops.

Keep styles the same. If one is dressy, then all should be. It should go with the location chosen as well.

Details- Don’t forget the details! Hats, scarves, jewelry, shoes, these all impact the look you are going for and can add that punch of color to a neutral palate. Just keep in mind that LESS IS MORE. Go for the statement piece, but leave the rest simple.

Comfort- I can’t say this enough! Wear what you are comfortable in and what YOU KNOW looks good on you. This goes for young and older. Kids do not cooperate when they are not comfortable. Be mindful on the way clothes are fitted. If something is too tight, it will show and not be flattering.

I will help you with your color choices and offer recommendations to make this a stress free, fun session!

What should I bring?

It is important to keep the little ones happy. For this I recommend bringing snacks, drinks, extra diapers, bib or cover up for snacks, a favorite toy or blanket. Tissues and makeup for last minute touch ups are a good idea as well.

What packages do you offer?

I think it is important for my clients to have a variety of options and products to choose from and to get exactly what they want. So I choose to not offer standard packages and allow you to order a la carte. I do not place order minimums as well. I do offer some amazing photographic products from prints and gallery wraps to cut-outs, modern metals and key chains.

How soon can I see my proofs and how do I view them?

Approximately 2 weeks after your photo session, I will have a beautiful slideshow presentation of your image proofs ready for you to view at my studio. I will also share with you some of the unique products I offer so you can see them first hand. Afterwards I will upload your images into a gallery on my website where you can view and also order directly from. I know how busy things can get, so if time is not in our favor for a meeting, I will upload your gallery straight to my website for fast easy viewing from the comfort of your home.

Personal galleries will stay posted on my website for 90 days. Afterwards there is a $25 Re-Open fee.

When will my finished order be ready?

I work closely with a wonderful professional photo finishing lab. Depending on what products are in your order, it should be ready to ship in 2-5 business days after placing the order.

What forms of payment do you take?

Currently at this time, for Session Fees, Senior Packages, and weddings I accept only CASH and PERSONAL CHECK (There is a $30 return check fee).
